Best Buy to Devote Retail Space to Albums on Vinyl

New York - After a successful test in 100 of its stores, electronics and media retail chain Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) plans to set aside eight square feet of retail space in each of its more than 1,000 stores for vinyl records, according to the New York Post. The space equates to about 200 albums. Vinyl sales were up 89% in 2008, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

IODA Signs Distribution Deals with Indie CD, Vinyl Distributors

San Francisco - The Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA), a digital distributor of independent label music, announced on Wednesday that it has signed distribution deals with three large independent CD and vinyl distributors. Under the deals, Revolver USA, U.K.-based Shellshock and Bayside Entertainment Distribution will use IODA's D3 platform to distribute digital versions of their catalogs to IODA's network of over 150 retailers.
