Virgin America Taps VH1 to Add Music Videos to In-Flight System

San Francisco - Recently launched discount airline Virgin America on Thursday announced that it partnered with Viacom's VH1 to offer an on-demand music video library to air passengers. The airline's Red in-flight entertainment system, which also offers 3,000 MP3 tracks, will feature up to 50 music videos, as well as performances featured on VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul.

Burlingame, Calif. - Virgin America, the low-fare airline scheduled to launch on Aug. 8, said on Monday that it will offer the Current TV network's programming on an exclusive channel on its in-flight entertainment system. The channel will include user-generated content created by Current TV viewers.

I2m_virginamerica1_2 Virgin is not in the business of music.  Or credit cards.  Or mobile phones.  Or space travel.  Though the brand has done remarkably well in translating its popularity from one business to the next - they are actually in the business of reinventing stagnant industries.  Just look at the track record of industries that they have entered and how they have done it.  Last week they announced the newest business they will try to reinvent, now that they finally have their long awaited approval in the US to start a new domestic airline.
