London - Virgin Group on Monday launched a new version of its digital music subscription service, that gives users unlimited access to its library of 2 million tracks for streaming and downloading for $7.99 per month. The Virgin Digital Red Pass includes access to 60 pre-programmed radio online radio stations, in addition the ability to burn tracks to CD and transfer them to Windows Media portable players, excluding the iPod. Another feature enables subscribers whose subscriptions have lapsed to rejoin and restore access to all of the music from their expired account.

Los Angeles - Virgin Digital, the U.K. company's digital entertainment unit, announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Emeryville, Calif.-based Orb Networks, a developer of media delivery software. The companies will collaborate on Virgin Digital Connector, a service that will enable users to securely access streaming music and song files from any Web-enabled device, including cell phones, PCs and mobile devices. The Virgin Digital music service offers over 2 million tracks from 15,000 record labels.

Los Angeles -- Virgin Digital, the digital entertainment unit of billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Group, announced on Thursday that it has begun offering Digital Music Starter Kits in its Virgin Megastores retail chain. The free software CD contains a beta release of the Virgin Digital multimedia player, which links to the Virgin Digital Megastore where users can purchase over a million songs for $0.99 each. The CD also contains a two-week free trial to the Virgin Digital Music Club, the Radio Free Virgin streaming radio service and 30 free downloads of artists on Virgin-owned V2 and LuakaBop Records. "Virgin Digital is the first comprehensive retail-driven digital music experience," said Virgin Digital president Zack Zalon. "We worked very closely with the Megastore staff on programming the service in an effort to offer consumers an incredibly compelling experience that would emulate the Virgin experience for them."
