Britney Spears New Album "Blackout" Moves Up to October 30Authored by Scott Goldberg on October 10, 2007 - 7:40am.
Citing the amount of “leaked” songs for Britney Spears’ new album titled Blackout (no pun is believed to be intended), her label, Jive Records, has bumped the launch date to October 30th, two weeks ahead of the original November 13th release. Said a label spokesperson, "Due to these numerous unauthorized online leaks, the label is doing everything possible to prevent and avoid any further illegal distribution of songs including moving up the release date of the album to Oct. 30."

New Britney Spears Single 'Gimme More' Third on iTunes ChartAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 27, 2007 - 12:24pm.
You had to love the “Britney’s Career is Finished” headlines following the “disastrous” MTV Video Music Awards performance. The mere fact so many millions declared the end of her career only served as notice that public interest in the pop star has never been higher. How quickly we forget: Stardom today has little to do with the kind of news you make; it's far more important to make any news at all, good or bad. And who in pop culture has made more news in recent weeks? It is, no doubt, the reason Spears’ new single Gimme More, which she sang with such heartfelt enthusiasm at the VMAs (relive it here), has reached the third spot on the iTunes charts.
Kanye West Beats 50 Cent on First Week Album SalesAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 19, 2007 - 6:33am.
Nielsen SoundScan released its weekly report today, and Kanye West sold more albums in the first week of his new release, Graduation, than anyone has in 2.5 years. He has sold 957,000 copies since the album’s release last Tuesday, the highest total since 50 Cent’s March 2005 The Massacre, which sold 1.1 million copies its first week. West’s album dominated the battle with 50 Cent, who released a new album, Curtis, on the same day. His album has only sold 691,000 copies in its first week.
Britney Spears Super Fan Chris Crocker gets own Reality ShowAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 19, 2007 - 4:48am.
Chris Crocker went nuts on YouTube following the Britney Spears debacle at the Video Music Awards, and 8 million people watched (you can see the clip here). Now reality television producer 44 Blue Productions has contracted with Crocker on a development deal, only the latest example of the power of YouTube to create instant celebrity. The show will be a docusoap in the vein of MTV’s The Hills and Laguna Beach, and will follow the 19-year-old Crocker's life in Tennesse, where he lives with his grandparents.

Kanye West Bashes MTV Again, this time on EllenAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 14, 2007 - 11:16am.
The man is angry right now. Really, really angry. And forget about the album he released on Tuesday, which sold around 430,000 copies its first, well ahead of 50 Cent who also released an album that day. West is feeling really sensitive right now, and MTV is the culprit. "[MTV] didn't give me the opportunity to rock the way I wanted to rock," he said on Ellen DeGeneres’s show Ellen. He said his five VMA nominations without any trophies to show for it was a "slap in the face." Kanye West is not a sore loser. Believe that.

Analysis: Paul Potts, Britney Spears and Pulling Clips Off YouTubeAuthored by Jay Baage on September 13, 2007 - 10:09am.
People go to YouTube to find some of the best moments on TV like Paul Potts' amazing audition for “Britain’s Got Talent” and some of the worst like Britney Spears’ perfomance at MTV’s Video Music Awards. In the Ivory Towers of the television networks they are debating whether these user-uploaded clips are great branding or just plain piracy. While Potts’ clip is still up on YouTube after over 30 million views, Viacom has pulled most of the clips from Britney’s VMA performance. So what is the right strategy here?

MTV Kills Kanye West with Kindness Following VMA TiradeAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 12, 2007 - 3:55am.
After the Video Music Awards last Sunday, Kanye West said he felt “betrayed” by MTV on New York radio station Z100, and launched complaints about the unfair treatment the network showed its most infamous act, Britney Spears. “They exploited Britney in helping her to end her career,” he said (you can listen to the interview here). He also complained about the venue for his performance at the VMAs (the Palms Casino luxury suite as opposed to the main stage), and declared he was finished working with MTV (a more R-rated version of his complaints backstage at the VMAs can be seen here).

50 Cent Avoids Beyonce at VMAsAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 11, 2007 - 8:06am.
MediaTakeOut.com, “The Spot for Hip Hop Gossip,” pointed out in this clip from MTV’s Video Music Awards that rap superstar 50 Cent apparently dissed Beyonce when she won the award for “Most Earth Shattering Collaboration” for the song “Beautiful Liar” with Shakira.
Kanye West says MTV Exploited Him & Britney Spears at VMAsAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 10, 2007 - 1:47pm.
The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards was one to remember, we already know. And today Kanye West stoked the fire, saying on New York’s Z100 that MTV “exploited” him and Britney Spears. Who says cat fights are relegated to women and high schoolers? “They exploited Britney in helping her to end her career,” he said on the show. So Kanye, if she wanted to end her career anyway, wouldn’t you say MTV did her a favor? You can listen to the interview here.
