LA Times Opens User Voting Pool for Grammys, Golden Globes and Oscars

The Los Angeles Times yesterday launched an online voting pool for the Grammys and Golden Globes titled The Road To Gold. The interactive feature allows awards enthusiasts to test their “insider” knowledge against actual award voters and other online participants. In addition, private pools can be created for friends, family and coworkers. An Oscar-oriented game will launch once the Academy Awards nominations have been announced on January 23rd. Participants can fill out a ballot to vote for their favorite movie, TV and music nominees by logging onto The Envelope.

MySpace Launches Online Voter Registration Drive

Los Angeles - MySpace announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with the nonpartisan group Declare Yourself to launch a voter registration drive on the online social network. MySpace is placing ads for the effort on its site, and offering "I Registered To Vote On MySpace" graphics for members' profile pages. Market research firm comScore Media Metrix estimates that 80% of MySpace's 114 million members are of legal voting age. Those interested in registering must do so soon, however, as many states' cut-off dates for registering new voters will come next week, a month before the Nov. 7 elections.

Rehearsals.com to Provide Online Video, Voting for NBC's "StarTomorrow"

Burbank, Calif. - CenterStaging, a developer of digital video and music entertainment content, announced on Monday that its Rehearsals.com will provide high-definition digital production for NBC's new "battle of the bands" reality series, "StarTomorrow." The company will provide weekly streaming broadcasts of the series, as well as the ability for viewers to vote for their favorite group, which will win a development and distribution deal with Warner Music Group.

Mobile Content Publisher Mobliss Raises Funds

Seattle - Mobliss, a unit of Index Group that provides mobile content delivery technology and publishes mobile entertainment content, announced on Tuesday that it has raised an undisclosed sum of new capital, from an investment created through a partnership of Japanese holding companies.
