London - Cell phone maker Sony Ericsson on Thursday introduced two new Walkman-branded music phones, the W850 and W710. The Sony Ericsson W850, a "slider" model available in black or white, has a feature that lights up the control keys in rhythm with the up to 4GB of music that can be stored on the device. It also features Walkman player 2.0 software, which includes Gracenote Mobile MusicID technology that lets users record a few seconds of a song either via mic or FM radio, and receive artist and song title information back from Gracenote. The W710 Walkman phone, a flip model available in graphite and violet, features a motion sensor and fitness applications that can measure running speed, distance and time, as well as how many steps one walks each day. The W710 can hold up to 1GB of music, and comes with an armband clip for exercise. While the W850 ($385) will only be offered in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the W710 ($260-$385) will also ship in the Americas; both models will become available in the third quarter of 2006.
