Warner Music Videos to Return to YouTube

New York - Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG) has signed a new licensing agreement with Google's YouTube (NASD: GOOG), which will see the major record label's music videos return to the site after a nine-month absence. In recent weeks, several outlets had reported that a deal between the two parties was close.

Somerville, Mass. - The Echo Nest, the provider of a "music intelligence" platform, on Wednesday announced the launch of its Fanalytics platform, which "applies patented Web crawling, machine learning and semantic Web technology to help artists and labels better understand, locate and build their online fan base." Initial customers include Universal's Interscope Records, Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group, Sony's RCA, and indie distributor The Orchard.

Universal, YouTube in Talks on Standalone Music Videos Site

Los Angeles - Major record label Universal Music Group is close to negotiating a deal to create an online repository for major label music videos, and is working with YouTube (NASD: GOOG) on the project, codenamed "Vevo," CNET News.com reported, citing sources close to the matter. Universal already claims the most-trafficked music video channel on YouTube, with 3.5 billion views, and has previously stated that it is generating "tens of millions" of revenue from the site.

Warner Music: Digital Now 19% of Total Revenues

New York - Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG) now generates 19% of its total revenues from digital music, and reported $171 million in digital revenue for its fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31 -- a 20% increase from the same period a year ago.

San Bruno, Calif. - Google's YouTube is close to finalizing a deal with Sony Music that would allow users to incorporate music from Sony artists into their videos, CNET News.com reported, citing sources close to the situation. The deal would come in the midst of an ongoing licensing dispute between fellow major label Warner Music and YouTube, which has seen videos utilizing previously authorized Warner songs removed from the site recently.

New York - Major record label Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG) on Tuesday reported that digital revenue grew 26% in its fiscal fourth quarter, to $167 million, while full-year digital revenue increased 39% to $639 million, and now represents 18% of its total revenues.

Espoo, Finland - Mobile phone giant Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a deal to add Warner Music Group's (NYSE: WMG) catalog to its "Comes With Music" line of phones that ship with a year's worth of unlimited music downloads, as well as its Nokia Music Stores. The company previously licensed Universal Music Group tracks for the service in December 2007, and Sony BMG in April.

London - Warner Music Group's Atlantic Records UK has partnered with social network Bebo to promote its artists on the site's "KateModern" Web series, a spin-off of the popular "Lonelygirl15" series. Similar to "The O.C.," Atlantic acts including the Days will both perform on the show and interact with cast members. Bebo will in turn promote the Warner artists' releases on its network.

ArkivMusic Adds Out-of-Print Warner Classics CDs to Service

Bryn Mawr, Pa. - ArkivMusic, an online store that features over 4,000 out-of-print classical music titles available on-demand, announced on Monday that it has signed a deal with Warner Classics to release the group's out-of-print classical recordings. Included are deleted catalog titles on Warner Classics, Teldec Classics and Erato Disques. ArkivMusic has similar deals with Sony BMG, the Universal labels Decca, Philips and Deutsche Grammophon, the EMI labels EMI Classics, Angel Records and Virgin Classics, and two dozen independent classical labels.

Wilco to Let Fans Vote on Concert Setlists via Website

Los Angeles - Warner Music Group/Nonesuch artists Wilco have set up a form on their website so fans can vote for which songs they'd like to hear the band perform live at upcoming shows. "We're testing a way we'd like to utilize the site (and you) in a new way... you can now vote for songs that the band will play that night by using this form. We'll tabulate the results and the band will definitely utilize them when drafting the set list," the band said on its website. The fan-influenced set list will debut at a show in Chicago show next week, and continue through November on Wilco's current tour, which includes a stop at the Austin City Limits music festival next weekend.

Snocap to Power MySpace Music Stores for Warner Music Group

New York - Major record label Warner Music Group announced that it has licensed music videos for distribution on Joost, the peer-to-peer streaming video service launched by the creators of Kazaa and Skype. Under the deal, Warner Music will share revenue from advertising placed on various Joost channels featuring content from WMG labels and artists. In addition to music videos, WMG will supply artist interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from studio recordings and music video shoots.

MobiTV Demos WiMax TV, Signs Deals with Sprint, Warner Music

Las Vegas - MobiTV, a provider of mobile TV delivery technology and programming, is demonstrating its unified multicast and unicast TV service for the WiMax standard this week at the Consumer Electronics Show. WiMax was developed to connect Wi-Fi hotspots, and serve as a wireless alternative to cable and DSL broadband. The company also announced a deal with Sprint, to power a mobile TV service for the wireless carrier's joint venture with a number of cable TV companies. Finally, MobiTV said it partnered with major record label Warner Music Group, to create branded mobile TV channels for Warner artists like Linkin Park and Red Hot Chili Peppers that offer both music videos and original video content.

Motorola Signs Mobile Music Pact with Warner Music Group

Las Vegas - Motorola has signed an agreement with major record label Warner Music Group that will result in the creation of digital products, marketing campaigns and strategic planning across multiple devices. Under the deal, Motorola will get exclusive content like pre-loaded tracks, over-the-air songs, ringtones, ringback tones and mobile music videos. For example, the MOTO Experience Pack, expected in the second half of 2007, will combine several music-based products from a Warner artist in a single file downloaded to a user's phone.

London - Major record label EMI said on Thursday that it has cut off discussions with a group of undisclosed private equity firms about a possible sale of the company.
