Redmond, Wash. -- Microsoft announced this week that its anticipated "Halo 2" game for the Xbox sold 2.38 million units in its first 24 hours of release, generating a record $125 million for the company. A Microsoft vice president had predicted earlier in the week that the game would take in $100 million in its first day, but the $125 million take eclipsed even the opening weekend box office for the first "Spider-Man" movie, which made $114 million over three days.
