Activision: 650,000 "Guitar Hero" Song Packs Sold on Xbox Live

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Activision said on Tuesday that video game song packs for its "Guitar Hero II" title have surpassed 650,000 downloads on Microsoft's Xbox Live Marketplace. The downloadable packs, first offered about five months ago, each contain three songs; individual songs combined have topped the 2 million sales mark. Activision said "Guitar Hero" games have to date sold more than 5.5 million units. The company plans to ship "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" to retailers next month.

Disney Adds Feature Films to Microsoft Xbox Live Marketplace

Los Angeles - Disney announced on Wednesday an agreement with Microsoft to make its films available for purchase and download through the Xbox Live Marketplace online service for the Xbox 360 game console.

Nashville - CMT, a unit of Viacom's MTV Networks, said on Monday that it has made a number of its series and specials available for purchase and download from digital retailers including iTunes, Amazon Unbox, AOL Video, Wal-Mart Video Downloads and Xbox Live Marketplace. The offerings include "Foxworthy's Big Night Out," "Trick My Truck" and "CMT Comedy Stage."

Xbox Live Marketplace to Debut First HD Episode of "South Park"

San Francisco - Viacom's Comedy Central will distribute the first high-definition episode of its "South Park" TV series as a free download exclusively on the Xbox Live Marketplace service for Microsoft's Xbox 360 game console, Wired News reports. The HD episode will be available for download on Tuesday; it will also be bundled on HD DVD discs along with purchases of an Xbox 360 or HD DVD drive for the console at retailer Best Buy.

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Video game publisher Activision on Tuesday announced details of the downloadable songs and other content for developer Red Octane's "Guitar Hero II" Xbox 360 air guitar game. In addition to over 70 new tracks for the game, the Xbox Live Marketplace will allow gamers to unlock achievement points, and download themes and picture packs, and well as track their high scores on an online leaderboard.
