Yeahronimo, Content Factory Joint Venture to Exploit Commodore Brand

Los Angeles - Yeahronimo Media Ventures, which earlier this year purchased the rights to the Commodore classic video game brand, announced on Tuesday the formation of a joint venture with Dutch game and accessories maker The Content Factory. Los Angeles-based Yeahronimo will receive $21.6 million from Content Factory over five years for its stake in Commodore Games, which will develop branded retro gaming hardware and software. The company will initially license classic Commodore 64 titles to third-party developers of plug-and-play, mobile and handheld games, later expanding into the creation of its own specialized gaming hardware and accessories.

Dutch PC Firm Tulip Sells Commodore Name to Media Firm Yeahronimo

Amsterdam -- Tulip Computers NV, a PC maker based in the Netherlands, recently announced that it has agreed to sell its subsidiary Commodore International BV to Yeahronimo Media Ventures Inc., a California-based media firm. Under the terms of the agreement, Yeahronimo will pay the Dutch firm approximately $38.1 million in installments until the year 2010. Yeahronimo will gain full control over the Commodore brand name "in order to further develop a worldwide entertainment concept", the company said. Tulip acquired Commodore in September 1997, after offloading the Amiga name and platform to Gateway.
