Ziff Davis Sells 1UP to Hearst's UGO; Shutters EGM Magazine

New York - Technology publisher Ziff Davis Media announced on Wednesday that it has sold its 1UP Digital Network, which includes the game-related site 1UP.com, to UGO Entertainment, a unit of publisher Hearst Corporation. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Ziff Davis also said it will discontinue its EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) magazine, with the January print issue to be its last.

Ziff Davis's PC Magazine to Abandon Print for Online

New York - Publisher Ziff Davis Media announced on Wednesday that its 27-year-old flagship title, PC Magazine, will go all digital next year. The final issue of the print version, which earlier this year went from a bi-weekly to monthly format, will be published in January 2009. The company said the PCMag Digital Network, with over 7 million unique monthly visitors, now reaches in excess of 10 times the circulation of the print publication.

Publisher Ziff Davis Media to File for Bankruptcy

New York - Publisher and event producer Ziff Davis Media announced on Wednesday that it plans to file for Ch. 11 bankruptcy protection, and will set aside $24.5 million to fund operations during and after it emerges from the process, expected to conclude this summer. The company, which publishes PC Magazine and Electronic Gaming Monthly magazines, and websites including 1UP.com, said it has also reached an agreement with investors on a restructuring plan to reduce its funded indebtedness.

Publisher Ziff Davis Sells Enterprise Group to Insight VP for $150 Million

- Publisher Ziff Davis Media announced on Thursday that it will sell the assets of its Enterprise Group, which includes the magazines eWEEK, CIO Insight and Baseline, and a number of technology industry conferences, to New York-based private equity and venture capital firm Insight Venture Partners for about $150 million.
