Disney to Employ Zinio's CDVU+ Format on Upcoming Releases

San Francisco - Zinio, a provider of digital publishing and distribution for magazines and books, said on Tuesday that Disney Music Group will implement its CDVU+ format on upcoming releases next year from artists including Atreyu, Hillary Duff, Jesse McCartney and Vanessa Hudgens. The CDVU+ format -- which eliminates the traditional CD booklet and jewel case -- includes interactive "digital magazine" elements and band photos that can be printed at home, as well as song lyrics, behind the scenes videos, and Web links to exclusive content.

Barnes & Noble.com Taps Zinio, Digby.com for New Features

New York - Online retailer Barnes & Noble.com said on Monday that it has partnered with digital magazine and book publisher Zinio, to launch a new "See Inside" book preview feature on BN.com. The feature will initially be available on "thousands" of titles on the site. The company separately announced a partnership with mobile commerce service provider Digby.com, to market its CDs and DVDs to users of BlackBerry smartphones.

San Francisco - Zinio Systems, a provider of digital publishing services for books and magazines, announced on Tuesday that it has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Gilvest, an investment group owned by entrepreneur David H. Gilmour.

Zinio Adds 50 Titles to Digital Magazine Service

San Francisco - Zinio Systems, a publisher of digital versions of magazines and newspapers, announced on Tuesday that it has added 50 new consumer titles in 10 countries. New titles launched in the U.S. include Men's Health, Penthouse, The Advocate and Out. San Francisco-based Zinio publishes digital versions of over 400 titles from more than 100 publishers worldwide.

Digital Magazine Publisher Zinio Names Maggiotto President and CEO

San Francisco - Zinio, a publisher of digital PDF versions of newspapers and magazines, announced on Tuesday that it has named Richard Maggiotto as president and CEO. Previously, Maggiotto was the company's senior vice president of strategic development. He succeeds Scott Kauffman, who will continue to serve as chairman. Since 2002, San Francisco-based Zinio has distributed more than 45 million digital magazines from more than 400 popular titles, including BusinessWeek, Elle and Playboy.

FHM Magazine Launches Digital Version with Zinio Systems

New York - FHM magazine, a the young men's publication from Emap Metro, announced on Tuesday that it has launched a downloadable digital version of FHM with partner Zinio Systems. Available beginning with the March 2006 issue, the digital version will re-create all images, copy and ads present in the print edition.

Digital Magazine Publisher Zinio Merges With Blue Dolphin, Raises $7 Million

San Francisco -- Zinio Systems, a publisher of digital versions of magazines and newspapers, announced on Monday that it has merged with online magazine retailer Blue Dolphin Group. As part of the deal, Zinio said it closed a $7 million financing round, led by North Bridge Venture Partners and Commonwealth Capital. Massachusetts-based Blue Dolphin sells a catalog of more than 1,300 digital versions of magazine titles. Zinio said the deal will allow it to offer digital as an option to a new audience of print readers who can now sample digital versions of magazines before subscribing. San Francisco-based Zinio also announced the launch of a global distribution channel for published digital media, which will enable the delivery of both foreign and domestic titles in the language and currency of member countries -- which currently include the U.S., U.K., Poland, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and Thailand.
