Microsoft Introduces Zune HD Player

Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) on Tuesday released its Zune HD digital media player, which features a 3.3-inch touch screen and comes in 16GB ($220) and 32GB ($290) models. The device features an HD radio tuner, and can output full 720p resolution HD video when connected to a television. Wired.com's review notes that Microsoft has enabled Xbox users who purchase video content on the Xbox Live Marketplace to download a free mobile copy for their Zune, and vice versa. An application marketplace for the device is currently "very thinly populated," according to Wired.com, but Microsoft has promised Twitter and Facebook applications are coming soon.

San Francisco - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) is discontinuing its current line of Zune media players as it releases the new Zune HD player, Wired.com reports. The new line of Zune HD players are slated to go on sale Sept. 15, sporting price tags of $220 (16GB) and $290 (32GB). Meanwhile, rival Apple is expected to update its own line of iPods at an event next week.

Microsoft Launches Pre-Order for Zune HD

Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) announced on Thursday that its new Zune HD line of portable media players are now available for pre-order, and will ship to retailers on Sept. 15. The company confirmed pricing on the devices will be $219 for the 16GB version and $289 for the 32GB model.

Los Angeles - Microsoft's (NASD: MSFT) new Zune HD portable media players will sell for $219 (16GB) and $289 (32GB) when they go on sale, PC World reported, citing a prematurely posted pre-order page on Amazon.com. Those prices compare with current Apple iPod touch pricing of $299 (16GB) and $399 (32GB). It's still unclear when Microsoft plans to release the Zune HD, although reports have speculated it will hit stores in the fall.

Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) announced on Wednesday that it plans to release a new Zune HD portable media player in the fall, and will extend its Zune video service to the Xbox Live online game service for its Xbox 360 video game console. The Zune HD will feature a built-in HD Radio receiver, support for HD video output, an OLED touch-screen, Wi-Fi and an Internet browser.
