and more recently, Google's own Android operating system for mobile phones.

next year. The device will first be sold at RadioShack stores in the Dallas and New

already stock T-Mobile phones, and its kiosks in Sam's Club stores sell Verizon
Wireless products.

allow customers to unlock their Apple (NASD: AAPL) iPhones for use on competing networks, according
to an interview with CEO Matthew Key published by the Times Online. "Once
the iPhone becomes available on other UK networks, we will allow O2
customers to unlock their iPhones, although of course they will still need to
honor any outstanding contract period they have. At the end of their contract
period, they are entirely free to move to another operator," Key told the
Times. O2 competitors Orange and Vodafone are
expected to offer the iPhone in the U.K.

Monday launched a new premium mobile application, Shazam Encore, on Apple's (NASD: AAPL) App
Store. The application, available for a one-time fee of $4.99, provides quicker
song tagging; music recommendations; Shazam music charts; and a car mode where all
songs played on the radio are tagged while a user is driving. In addition, new
users of the existing free Shazam application -- which counts over 10 million
downloads on the App Store -- will be limited to five tags per month.
