BigBand Names Chairman, Loses COO

Redwood City, Calif. - BigBand Networks, a developer of video-networking platforms used by broadband service providers, has named Mike Pohl as its non-executive chairman, and announced the resignation of COO David Heard. Pohl, a 25-year telecommunications and cable veteran, has been a board member since last April. The company said that his appointment will separate the roles of CEO and chairman. Amir Bassan-Eskenazi will continue in his role as CEO. Heard will remain a consultant to BigBand through June 30.

Shares of BigBand Networks Spike After Pricing of $139 Million IPO

Redwood City, Calif. - Shares of BigBand Networks rose 31% on their first day of trading Thursday, just hours after the company priced its initial public offering (IPO) at $13 a share, more than its expected range of $10-$12.

Green Monster Games, a developer of massively multiplayer online games (MMOs), today announced its first round of new hires. Steve Danuser has been appointed Director of Community Development/Senior Designer. Danuser will oversee the construction of the company's official website and develop its fan community while reporting directly to GMG's Founder, Curt Schilling.

BigBand Networks, Concurrent Team on Network-based Digital Video Recorder

Atlanta - BigBand Networks, a provider of broadband multimedia infrastructure for video, voice and data services, announced on Monday that it partnered with video-on-demand technology developer Concurrent on a network-based digital video recorder service. The two companies' combined technologies will enable third-party providers to offer digital video recorder services where the recorded programs are stored on the provider's servers, rather than on home set-top boxes.
